Topic: “Her Life’s Work with Special Education”


The February program will be presented by Brenda Batts, PhD. Dr. Brenda Batts is a Behavior Consultant, and mother of two sons: Ray, a 29-year-old neuro-typical son, and Alex, a 26-year-old son with Autism. Dr. Batts is also co-owner and director of Focus on the Future Training Center, a private school located in Plano, Texas for students with Autism and other related developmental disorders.

Dr. Batts is the author of “Road to Independence: Independence Skills Training for Special Needs Children, Ready, Set, Potty” and an inspirational book entitled, “Letters to my Special Needs Child.” Through her publications and workshop presentations, Dr. Batts shares her proven and innovative behavior management as well as independence skills training techniques, which she developed as a result of her 30+ years of experience both as a much sought-after national and international presenter in the field of special needs, as well as through her own personal journey in the path of helping unique learners achieve independence.

The February program will be sponsored by Dallas Metro North TBW member, Angela Powell. Powell, a native Texan, grew up in the Houston area and graduated from Houston Baptist University with a bachelor’s degree in Science. Realizing her true love was business, she continued her education by earning an MBA in Health Services Finance. Her professional career began as an instructor at Northampton Community College in Pennsylvania. After moving back to Texas, Angela specialized in taxes through her work at H&R Block. She gained extensive financial experience as she honed her customer service skills by providing personalized service to each of her clients. Powell’s support for local charities showcases her love of community. Currently serving on the Plano Independent School District Board of Trustees, Place 2, St. Joseph Catholic School Advisory Board Member, St. Mark Faith & Grief Ministry Volunteer/Facilitator and Vice President of Dallas Metro North TBW.

Guests should plan to arrive by 6:30pm while members should plan to arrive by 6:00pm for the business meeting.

Topic: “Career Engagement: Getting the Most from your Employees”


The January program will be presented by Joe Frodsham, President of Career Management Partners. Frodsham has extensive experience across multiple industries leading human resource functions and building cutting-edge talent management systems. Prior to becoming President of CMP, Joe led JBKF Group where he spent much of the last decade as a consultant to companies across industries, helping them build talent, grow and manage change. Frodsham earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology and his master’s degree in organizational behavior from Brigham Young University. He has published a number of articles, co-authored a seminal book on careers titled “Make it Work,” and is a speaker and recognized expert on talent, leadership, change and organization development.

The January program will be sponsored by Dallas Metro North TBW member, Vicki Ratliff. Ratliff joined TBW in 1995 and has served in various capacities at the state and local level. Ratliff is an attorney licensed to practice law in the state of Texas since 1987. Currently, Vicki focuses her practice on Wills, Estate Planning and Probate. Using her tagline of “Wheels on Wills,” Ratliff makes house calls on her clients.
