Topic: “Forward Into Light”

TBW State President Mary Mackey will sponsor and present the program for the October meeting. The program will spotlight the HERstory of the Nineteenth Amendment and include a showing of “Forward Into Light,” a short documentary film about Inez Milholland, suffragist, labor lawyer, World War I correspondent, and public speaker who greatly influenced the women’s suffrage movement in America.

Mary Mackey joined TBW in January 2000. In February, the other 5 members of the Cooke County Local Organization (LO) determined she should be their Vice President. It was almost overwhelming and somewhat daunting; but a determination to overcome her shyness and improve her communication skills, and, more significant, the encouragement of the members gave her the courage to stay and give it a shot. She is currently serving as state president.

Mary is employed as the Controller for Providence Energy Operators, LLC, an exploration and production company focused on direct investments in the upstream oil and gas industry.

Mary gives special credit to the members of TBW for always being so very supportive and encouraging, mentoring her as she has grown personally, socially, and professionally. “Being a member of TBW has shown me that I can be me…and has made me a better ‘me.’ I am proud to be a member of this organization and honored to know the magnificent women in TBW.”
