Topic: “Creating Your Own Spotlight: Networking & Presentations”

The program for the September meeting of Dallas Metro North TBW will be presented by Tracy Oswald. Creating Your Own Spotlight: Networking & Presentations

Do you avoid networking like the plague because you just don’t know what to say?
Are you more terrified of public speaking than you are of fluorescent lighting?

It seems like everyone is networking these days, and no one likes doing it! We walk into a room full of strangers with fear in our eyes and dread in our hearts, believing that everyone is cooler, smarter, more successful and much better at this than we are, so we end up standing near the coffee machine, scrolling through our phones, trying to look important and invisible at the same time.

But, does it have to be this way? What if you could create a spotlight for yourself that allowed you to shine in the warmest and most flattering light? And you could confidently walk into a room full of strangers and engage with anyone feeling at ease, excited and full of energy?  What if you could take that ease and confidence and apply it to your presentation skills, where you are able to stand up in front of a room and tell your story in a fun and engaging way, connecting with your audience and feeling both light and powerful while you’re doing it?

Tracy Oswald, Business & Leadership Coach, will share excerpts from her best-selling leadership course, Creating Your Own Spotlight.

Topic: “Profit and Personal Responsibility”

The program for the August meeting of Dallas Metro North TBW will be presented by Phillip Huffines, Profit and Personal Responsibility. As a fifth generation Texan, Phillip’s relationship with Collin County started long before he opened his first business, a firework stand on Hwy 121. He has fond childhood memories of driving with his father between their family business and their country property in what would become Plano; Phillip watched Collin County develop in front of his eyes, in more than one way.

The Huffines Family has been proudly involved in Denton and Collin for over 90 years with family owned car dealerships and real estate developments. Phillip opened his first business while still in high school, a single firework stand on Hwy 121, which expanded to five locations within a few years in Plano, Lewisville, and Denton. Phillip had caught the entrepreneurial spirit that is still alive in Collin County. For the last 30 years, Phillip and his twin brother, Don, have been developing Collin County building infrastructure, roads, developing homes, and securing business development such as IKEA and the Frisco Rough Riders Baseball Team.

Phillip and his wife of 31 years, Holly, have three children, Haley, Hayden, and Garrett. Phillip enjoys hunting and the outdoors and, for the last 25 years, has been passionate about teaching business classes at high schools. As a volunteer and board member with Junior Achievement, Phillip encourages students to start their own businesses and inspire their entrepreneurial spirit.
